We're sorry...

...we've not been been around for a while, please forgive us.

You may know that Lapworth Scarecrow Festival 2015 was the most successful festival to date and the Trustees distributed over £10,000 to local groups and organisations who applied for funding following the weekend.

You may not know that an event of this size is not a small undertaking. The Festival has grown rapidly over the past 5 years and with that growth it has become increasingly challenging in a number of areas, not least managing the traffic and people that attend, finding the number of hours needed to plan the event and recruiting the 50 plus volunteers to help run the event over the weekend.

After much soul-searching, the Directors and Trustees feel the time has come to give everyone a year off, giving us time to put our efforts into planning the next Lapworth Scarecrow Festival. This will take place on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th September 2017. The Directors and Trustees will focus on encouraging greater community participation – not only in terms of making scarecrows, but, more importantly, the planning, preparation and running of the event.

We realise that this news will disappoint some of you, and we're sorry if this message has only just reached you, but we’d like to ask you to turn this into something positive.

Can you contribute in some way - however small – to making 2017 a success?

If you’re local to Lapworth and interested iI understanding how you might be able to get involved please use our contact form to get in touch or email us at – we don’t bite and we’d really, really love to hear from you.

In the meantime, we'll crack on with bringing you a brand new website and a 2017 Festival to beat all others!

One final note - thank you for continuing to support us, it is very much appreciated and we hope you'll continue to do so.

The Directors & Trustees, Lapworth Scarecrow Festival

As a registered charity (no. 1142292), Lapworth Scarecrow Festival's aim is to benefit local causes. All profits are shared amongst the various organisations that support and educate our local community.

For one weekend, every September, the village of Lapworth comes alive with straw figures and scenes as residents compete for the now coveted Lapworth Scarecrow Festival Awards.

It wouldn't be a scarecrow festival without scarecrows and volunteers, so we'd really love to hear from you if you think you can contribute in some way, however small!
