LAPWORTH SCARECROW FESTIVAL

They appear in trees, behind fences, on hedges, in doorways...and if you've never witnessed it before, it's an intriguing sight.

For one weekend, every other September, the village of Lapworth comes alive with straw figures and scenes as residents compete for the now coveted Lapworth Scarecrow Festival Awards.

The Festival draws visitors from near and far as word has spread about these spectacular and imaginative creations. Last year we saw over 50 scarecrows!

We welcome the public to our village 12-6pm on Saturday and 12-5pm on Sunday. The Awards Ceremony takes place at 6pm on Sunday.

The first Lapworth Scarecrow Festival took place in 2005, the inspiration of Kingswood & Lapworth WI.

Last year being its twelfth year, the event is organised and run by a dedicated committee on a voluntary basis with much valued and appreciated help from volunteers over the weekend.

As a charitable organisation, Lapworth Scarecrow Festival's aim is to benefit local causes. All profits are shared amongst the various organisations that support and educate our local community.

Scarecrows...where did they come from then?!
